There will be two SCA competitions during the 2018 Elk Grove Western Festival, one on Friday night and the other on Sunday morning. Anyone age 18 and over can enter either or both of the competitions.
The main difference between the two competitions is the Friday night SCA competition is being held during the KCBS competition so entrants will be competing against the KCBS teams and steak turn-ins will be between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm.
Note that this is the first time these teams will compete in the SCA format so it will be a level playing field for all. The Sunday SCA competition will be the same format, just not including the KCBS teams and will be in the morning (either 11 am or 12 pm steak turn-ins.)
Here are more details regarding the event:
First place winners on Friday night and Sunday will be invited to the SCA World Championship.
Entry fee for either competition is $100. If they enter both competitions, total entry fee discounted to $175 instead of $200.
Payout will be 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300 & 3rd Place $200. All three places will receive a trophy.
Anyone method of cooking the steak can be used. Gas grill, charcoal grill, smoker, butane stove with a cast iron skillet…anything!!
TWO RIBEYE STEAKS WILL BE PROVIDED TO EACH ENTRANT!!! Yes, you read this correctly!! Meat will be provided!!
Great way to officially settle the family argument of who cooks the best steak!
